RBI Grade B.
The Reserve Bank of India Grade B officer exam is in a class of its own. It tests not just aptitude, but deep knowledge of economics, finance, and social issues. Clearing RBI Grade B puts you at India's central bank — a role that shapes monetary policy and the nation's financial future.
Not just a banking exam.
RBI Grade B tests you like an economist, not just a banker. You need to understand how the central bank manages inflation, foreign exchange, and financial stability — not just balance sheets.
The Three Phases.
Online MCQ
200 objective questions across General Awareness, English, Quant, and Reasoning. Competitive cutoffs — only the top candidates advance. Phase I marks are NOT counted in the final score.
Descriptive Papers
Three separate papers: Economic & Social Issues (ESI), English Writing Skills, and Finance & Management (F&M). All descriptive. This is the hardest and most unique part of RBI Grade B — no other banking exam tests this deeply.
Interview
Panel interview conducted at RBI offices. Tests your understanding of economic policy, RBI's role, and your motivation for joining the central bank. Carry depth — not just facts.
Phase I Pattern.
Phase I is purely a screening round. The real battle begins in Phase II.
| Section | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| General Awareness | 80 | 80 |
| English Language | 30 | 30 |
| Quantitative Aptitude | 30 | 30 |
| Reasoning | 60 | 60 |
–0.25 for every wrong answer. Phase I scores are not counted in final merit — only Phase II + Interview matter.
