Exam Mechanics.
Single Unified Paper
Offline (Pen-and-Paper, OMR) · No separate sections
Passage-based questions drawn from court judgments, statutes, and legal regulations
ImportantCLAT PG has no fixed section-wise split. The entire paper is integrated: questions on Constitutional Law, Contract, Torts, and other subjects appear together in passage-based format. Unlike CLAT UG, prior legal knowledge is essential.
Approximate Subject Weightage
CLAT UG vs CLAT PG.
Same exam body, same NLUs. Very different exams.
One Year.
A Specialised Career.
For LLB Graduates Only
CLAT PG requires a completed LLB degree. It is the most direct route to a top-ranked LL.M. from any of the 24 participating NLUs.
Knowledge-Intensive
Unlike CLAT UG which tests aptitude, CLAT PG tests deep legal knowledge. Every question is passage-based from court judgments, statutes, and regulations.
24 NLUs, One Exam
A single CLAT PG score unlocks LL.M. admissions across all 24 Consortium NLUs, approximately 1,590 seats nationally.
Elite Academic Brand
An LL.M. from NLSIU, NALSAR, or WBNUJS opens doors in academia, litigation, policy, and global law firms at the highest level.
